Cricket world cup is something
I've always looked forward to. My first world cup was in 1999 which was played
in England. I still remember that epic runout of Lance Klusner in the
semifinal against Australia! After following cricket for such a long time, I'm
now realising the problems of moving to a different country and time
zone. Whom should I blame? Here are few things which could spoil my world cup
2015 experience!
1. Different time zone!
Yes. Most matches start at night 10:30PM EST and end next day morning 6:30AM! Have to sacrifice my entire sleep and also sacrifice my classes the next day. Still thinking which one to sacrifice.
2. Assignments and Deadlines!
Would have ignored the assignments if they were ungraded but unfortunately all assignments are graded. Imagine India playing Pakistan and a deadline the very next day!!
3. Find a free streaming link to watch!
Now I realise the problem of not having a TV! Since all cricket matches are not free, I need find an online link which streams for free. To add to the problem, need to bare with the pathetic video quality. But no choice. Have to be content with this!
4. Annoying nerdy friends!
Watching a match in the middle of people who keep studying 24x7 and speak as if cricket world cup isnt a big deal. Cant get worse than this! Miss those days of watching cricket with a huge gang of friends!
5. Annoying comments!
"oh! Looks like you dont have assignments at all. You are watching match", "We are here to study. Not to waste time watching cricket." These sort of comments will be common. Please! I like cricket so I'm watching it!
6. No buzz around the world cup!
Really miss the buzz around the world cup.Nobody talks about cricket here. Miss those nasty comments from people around when India lose to South Africa in a nail biting finisher or the celebrations when India reach the finals! Next morning here will just be another day and people are back to coding and assignments!
In spite of all these, the Indian Association is planning to telecast the Indian matches in an auditorium. Hope I can finish my work and watch the matches with a free mind. Have to wait and see how it goes! Another 15 days to go!
